Care Plans

BoolCare's AI care plan generation is one of its most powerful features. Instead of writing care plans from scratch, you answer a short set of questions tailored to the plan type and the AI produces a complete, personalised care plan document.

Plan types

BoolCare supports the following care plan types:

Plan type Use for
Personal Care Hygiene, dressing, grooming, continence
Medication Management Medication administration, storage, review
Nutrition & Hydration Dietary needs, fluid intake, swallowing
Mobility & Falls Moving and handling, fall prevention
Emotional Wellbeing Mental health, mood, social needs
Dementia Care Cognitive support, memory aids, orientation
End of Life Palliative care wishes, DNAR, family communication
Communication Speech, hearing, language support
Other Any care area not covered above

Creating a care plan

  1. Open a resident's profile.
  2. Scroll to the Care Plans section and click New care plan.
  3. Select the plan type.
  4. Answer the questions in the wizard. The questions adapt based on the plan type and your answers.
  5. Click Generate care plan.

BoolCare sends your answers to the AI, which writes a complete, personalised care plan — this usually takes 10–20 seconds.

Care plan status

Each care plan has two independent status fields:

Generation status

Status Meaning
draft You started the wizard but have not generated yet
generating The AI is currently writing the plan
complete The plan has been generated and is ready to review
error Generation failed — you can retry

Kanban status

Once a plan is complete, you manage it through a kanban workflow:

Status Meaning
Active The plan is current and in use
Under review The plan is being reviewed (e.g. before a care review meeting)
Archived The plan has been superseded or is no longer relevant

To change the kanban status, open the care plan and use the status selector at the top of the page.

Review dates

When creating a care plan you set a review date — the date by which the plan should be reviewed. The dashboard highlights care plans that are due for review or overdue.

To update the review date, open the care plan and click the date field.

Editing a care plan

The AI-generated content is a starting point. You can edit any section of the care plan directly on the plan detail page. Click into a section to edit, then save your changes.
